Dr. Ambrish Mishra is a contemporary Indian visual artist whose figurative paintings and intricate drawings blend traditional techniques with modern themes. For him, painting is a meditative act—an exploration of human emotion and the “inner sanctuary” of the soul.
His works often reflect the human condition, identity, and the intersection of nature with Indian culture and folklore. Recognized for his mastery of form and color, Mishra employs charcoal, ink on paper, and layered abstractions to create silent yet vibrant dialogues between the physical and spiritual worlds. Each canvas becomes a contemplative space where myth, memory, and emotion converge.
Alongside his practice, Mishra teaches in the Painting Department at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya (IKSVV), Khairagarh. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Indian Contemporary Painting in 2025, following earlier degrees in Fine Arts from IKSVV and the University of Allahabad.
His contributions have been honored with a Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, a Silver Medal from The Art Society of India, and awards from the State Lalit Kala Akademi and PraffullaDhanukhdhar Art Foundation. With over fifty national and international exhibitions to his credit, his works are housed in collections including Lalit Kala Akademi, the Allahabad Museum, and The Great Eastern Home Art Gallery.
Mishra’s art continues to inspire, offering viewers a journey into the depths of spirit and society.
