KVSS Rao is an accomplished painter with over four decades of continuous practice, working with oil, acrylic, watercolour, and soft pastels. Rooted in traditional techniques, his art focuses on landscapes and still life, capturing atmosphere, light, and form with sensitivity and balance. Influenced by John Constable, Johannes Vermeer, and Raja Ravi Varma, his works reflect compositional harmony and classical realism.
During his two years in Varanasi while pursuing a Masters at BHU, Rao was deeply inspired by the ghats and the city’s vibrant life—motifs that continue to appear in his paintings. Alongside a demanding career in an Indian multi-national company for over three decades, he sustained disciplined practice, with many colleagues adorning their homes with his works. Some overseas customers of the organization also carried his paintings abroad, extending his reach internationally.
Through observation and dedication, Rao affirms painting’s enduring power as a medium of beauty and contemplation.
