P.VENKATESWARLU

Sri PalaparthiVenkateshwarlu was a scientist and artist whose life beautifully bridged the worlds of research and creativity. A dedicated professional at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), he spent over 20 years working on paints and adhesives, while in his personal time he immersed himself in painting—his greatest passion.

Entirely self-taught, Venkateshwarlu painted nature in its many forms, favouringwatercolors on paper and greeting cards, though he also experimented with oils and clay idols. His works—over 440 in number—capture skies, sunsets, seashores, and trees with spontaneity and detail, often created directly from memory without sketches. Portraits of figures such as Rabindranath Tagore and Indira Gandhi also feature in his repertoire.

Known for his honesty, compassion, and progressive outlook, Venkateshwarlu lived simply yet profoundly. His art reflects his deep love for nature and his belief in freedom, empathy, and creativity. He leaves behind a legacy of paintings that continue to inspire.
