Raja Rambabu is a contemporary artist whose practice reflects a lifelong passion for painting and a deep engagement with memory, philosophy, and abstraction. Formally trained with a B.F.A. from Andhra University and an M.F.A. from Mysore University, he transformed his childhood passion into a professional pursuit.
His early works drew on childhood memories and later explored intimate human relationships through color woodcut prints. This trajectory expanded into the spiritual realm with the Buddha Series, a profound engagement with Buddhist philosophy that enriched his artistic vision.
Although his practice began with figurative forms, the realities of urban life — crowded streets, rushing people, and the dominance of concrete structures — reshaped his perspective. These experiences encouraged him to delve into the subconscious, leading him toward abstraction as a more authentic mode of expression.
Today, Raja’s paintings emerge from an intuitive process where color, texture, and transparency flow freely across the canvas. Rooted in the subconscious, they embody a dialogue between experience, memory, and spontaneous emotion. Each composition reflects both the immediacy of creation and the layered resonance of lived experience, offering viewers a contemplative journey into the interplay of inner thought and outward form.
