Vijay A. Dhongadi is a contemporary artist from Hubballi, Karnataka, whose practice bridges tradition and experimentation. He holds a B.V.A. from Shri Vijay Mahantesh Lalitakala Mahavidyalaya, Hubballi, and an M.F.A. from Vijay College of Fine Art, Gadag.
His work has been recognized with several state-level awards, including the Bijapur Kala Mahotsav Merit Award (2011), the Mysore Dasara Award (2019), and honors at the 84th Akhila Bharatiya Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. He has participated in numerous art camps and festivals across Karnataka, engaging with themes from folk traditions to contemporary urban life.
Vijay has presented solo exhibitions at Chitrasangam Gallery, Hubli (2016), Government Art Gallery, Dharwad (2018), and the “Stree Kruti” series at Shri Krishna Bhavan Hotel, Hubli (2021). His work has also been featured in group shows, including the annual exhibitions of the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy.
For Vijay, painting is an intuitive journey where color, texture, and form converge to reflect memory, culture, and spontaneous expression. His compositions invite viewers into a layered dialogue between heritage and contemporary thought.
